My journey in data started in 2017 after working for a few years in consulting and insurance. Within the next 5 years, I worked as a data scientist, bootcamp instructor, and eventually became a director of data at Vimeo, where I helped take the company public in 2021.
My love and respect for this career stems not only from its intellectual and creative possibilities, but from the personal growth and professional opportunities that come with it. My goal is to make the same possible to others through
hands-on mentorship, a diverse community, and experience that represents the real job.
Meet your
instructor,
Christine
Launching the first cohort
Inspired by the people I met through these workshops, I launched the first 20-person, 8-week cohort in June 2023. Students from London joined live 2-hour classes at 2am each week!
Present
Hosting free workshops
After a large wave of layoffs in the US, I started hosting free online workshops to help others transition into data. In a few weeks, these workshops grew from 7 to over 300 people from around the world
2023
Traveling for creative projects
During this time, I also traveled the world for photography projects, visiting Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, and Paris, exploring life through the lens of an analyst and an artist
2022
Becoming a director in data
After a few years at Vimeo, I became a director and led projects on exec reporting, dashboarding, pipelining, data modeling, and data infrastructure, expanding my love for the creative capabilities of data
2022
Teaching from Europe
During the pandemic, I lived in Lisbon for a few months, taught online classes at General Assembly, and saw first-hand how skill-based education is one of the most direct ways to increase diversity in technical roles
2020
Moving into data analytics
I got my first role in data at Justworks, where I was exposed to the ability to use technical skills to help solve day-to-day business problems and learned to use SQL, Excel, Tableau, and GitHub as an interconnected toolkit
2017
Tuition is discussed in the info session after understanding whether the program is the right fit for you. As a benchmark, the program is much more financially accessible than data analytics bootcamps, while teaching you long-term job hunt strategy, business thinking, and soft skills not covered in any other program.
You'll hear back within 2 weeks of your submission. If the program seems like a fit for you, you'll be invited to a small-group info session with Christine to learn more about the program structure, tuition, and results. If the program isn't the right fit for you, you'll receive feedback on what to focus on for a future cohort. Rolling enrollment for qualified applicants opens during the info session - the sooner you apply, the better!
The ideal candidate is already familiar with the fundamentals of Excel and SQL and may have had some experience with a visualization software like Tableau, Power BI, and / or Looker. This includes familiarity and experience with pivot tables and aggregate functions in Excel, and GROUP BY, WHERE, LIKE, HAVING, LIMIT, ORDER BY statements in SQL. It is highly encouraged that students are familiar with SQL CTEs before the program start. Prework will be sent out to ensure students start at a similar technical foundation before the first week.
Students are also selected based on their motivation, communication skills, and desire to learn from and collaborate with a community of other students.
You’ll learn SQL, Excel, GitHub, and Tableau. We do not teach Python as it is not a core requirement of many early-career data analyst positions, and the goal of this program is to equip you with the most efficient roadmap for becoming a data analyst today.
After the last week of live sessions, weekly office hours continues long-term so that you have mentorship throughout your job hunt and as you actually start on the job. The class recordings, Slack channel, and class materials are available to students indefinitely.
Students are suggested to dedicate ~7 hours each week outside of class times for independent and collaborative work.
Group coaching and collaborative group work (lab) is held from 11am-1pm est on Saturdays, and regular office hours are decided based on the makeup of each cohort, to ensure coverage for everyone's needs. Classes are recorded for you to watch on your own time.
This program prepares you for jobs with the title of Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, Reporting Analyst, and Insights Analyst. The skills taught are also related to roles titled Finance Analyst, Operations Analyst, Product Analyst, and Business Analyst.
I'd love to discuss any concerns you may have, as I want to make sure every student is (more than) satisfied, but will not be offering refunds unless there are unforeseen circumstances. Reach out to hello@analyticsaccelerator.io for help!
