I graduated from UPenn in 2015 with a degree in economics and statistics, and since then I've worked as a data analyst, data director, and hiring manager at companies like Vimeo, Oscar, Deloitte, and Justworks. In 2019 I found my love for mentorship by becoming a lead instructor at General Assembly, and haven't looked back since.
Across these industries, I saw a common struggle: smart, hardworking analysts who could code, yet got passed over for opportunities they deserved. Why? They were missing a few key skills - business instinct, domain knowledge, and the confidence to communicate what the numbers actually mean. FAQs
Many of our students are working full time jobs, and the program is designed to fit into a busy schedule. Recorded modules are available to watch any time, and live office hour sessions are usually Tuesday evening and Thursday afternoon (both EST). Generally, we recommend being able to allocate an average of 3+ hours per week to work towards your goals and take full advantage of the program.
After the cohort, you can enroll in our Continuity Cohort, which includes access to weekly office hours so that you have mentorship throughout your job hunt and until you land an offer. The class recordings, community Slack space, and class materials are all available to students indefinitely.
If you apply for the program and are qualified, I'll share details about the program tuition on a live call. As a benchmark, this program is more financially accessible than typical data bootcamps, and covers long-term job hunt strategy, business thinking, and stakeholder communication that no other program teaches.
Most importantly, we focus on the magic ingredient - analytical soft skills and business knowledge - needed to stand out in a data role in today's evolving data landscape.
Lastly, selective criteria for enrollment means our community is a tight-knit group of highly motivated, dynamic, and committed analysts who each contribute to the collective momentum and learnings of other program members.
You’ll learn SQL, Excel, GitHub, Tableau, as well as AI-enablement and data engineering concepts needed to succeed as an analyst on a real data team today. The program focuses on hands-on experience with these tools applied to a real work setting, rather than theoretical knowledge easily found in tutorials online.
